| "I Feel Pretty"
|
||
I feel pretty, Oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and gay, |
Ahhh... hairstyles, so many to choose from! And so many colors too! Whatever it is that's "wrong" with the hair that God has given you, there is sure to be a product for you to fix it! Whether your hair has become gray, or you just don't like the color of it anymore, there is a host of manufactures waiting to convince you that their hair-coloring product is the best one! -- After all... don't "blondes have more fun"?! And hair salons? They are all waiting for you to come in so that they can keep you looking "up-to-date" with one of the latest styles. Doesn't every woman just want to "feel pretty"?!
Perhaps this is how you feel about your hair -- that you can color it, "perm" it, or even "chop it off" and make yourself into an "American Shorthair", or whatever else you feel like doing to it. But I can tell you, that is NOT how Almighty God feels about it. As with every aspect of our lives, He has given clear instructions which include your hair!
The way you "personally" feel about what you can, and cannot do with your own hair, has absolutely nothing to do with anything! This too falls under the category of the "Me-ism" that has permeated this country! Consider the song along with the lyrics which are listed at the opening of this page -- "Me-ism", plain and simple. This is all part of "PRIDE" -- and "pride" is the very reason that Lucifer is no longer in Heaven with the Lord and is now known to us as Satan.
As a Godly woman, would you consider getting several tattoos? Or would you completely change the color of all your flesh? These actions tell the Lord that you don't believe He made you "pretty" enough, and that you decided to help Him out a bit. Well the same thing applies to your hair!
Let us consider the following Scriptures. I know that most of us have read them before, but let us please take a very close and careful look at them here:
"But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering."
(1 Corinthians 11:1-15)
There are a couple of key elements in the above Scriptures. When we read carefully we see that a woman is NOT to pray to her Heavenly Father "uncovered". We clearly see also that a woman's hair is the covering which is being spoken of -- not a hat, scarf, or some little "lace doilies" for women's heads of the Catholic church tradition. Come on now, "REASON"! WHY would the Scripture speak of long hair being a shame for a man, yet for a woman -- "...her hair is given her for a covering", if we must "cover" our heads with some type of cloth or hat?! My common sense alone tells me that any "interpretation" which says I have to "cover" my head with something besides my hair, makes NO SENSE at all.
There are (per-)versions of God's Holy Word out there, that quote the Scripture above in a different fashion. For instance, there is the CJB (Complete Jewish Bible), which states: "And if a woman has long hair, it is an esteem to her, because the long hair has been given to her over against a veil." While it is written grammatically incorrect in the first place, and in the second place the word "esteem" is VERY different from the word "glory", it STILL states that a woman's HAIR is her covering... NOT some form of veil, hat, cloth, or otherwise. This needs to be pointed out, because even those calling themselves "Messianic Jews" and Christians who call themselves Messianic, have TOTALLY MISSED this! People are turning to and relying on perversions of God's Word, "commentaries", and other sources, instead of seeking the Truth from the Author!
The word "long" is another word overlooked by those who wish to NOT "see" the Truth -- they concentrate on the word "covering". Paul is speaking of far more than some type of head gear. If you go with the mis-interpretation of some kind of extra head wear, then you're missing the point of the word 'long', which covers far more than just "the head". For if what was meant here, is for a woman to wear some form of extra covering, then a woman's hair would not have to be any longer than her collar! This is an ignorant contradiction to the word LONG!
And one other extremely important point... if this Scripture is talking about something else besides JUST a woman's hair, then why in the world mention "Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?" ...can you show a little common sense here please?! If the Lord wants you to wear some sort of "covering" On Top Of Your Hair, then this part of the Scripture is completely meaningless!
It is all clearly explained -- "he [the man] is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man". So men are the glory of God, and women are the glory of men. And a woman's glory? -- "But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering." So my sisters in Christ, your hair is your glory! And why? This is also clearly seen when we read very closely:
"For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God."
"...but all things of God." -- Everything on this earth was created by and belongs to The Almighty, including our very lives. If we are Godly women, we will keep in mind what He has set forth for us. When we search the Scriptures, we are plainly told that while our husbands have been given the responsibility to care and provide for us, we are to be in complete subjection to our husbands and to follow those principles which have been set in place for us by our Lord. So in keeping our hair long, we show our obedience to the will of God and to that which He has set forth. Whether we are married or single, in this then we find our glory -- our obedience to God and keeping the instructions which He has given us.
The woman listened to Satan and first ate of the forbidden fruit... SHE questioned God Almighty in her action. If she had but taken Him at His word, she would NOT have "fallen" for the deception. STOP being deceived!! Open your eyes and heart, and "SEE". Seek the wisdom of the Lord.
Anything short of full obedience to God's will and instruction, is rebellion. "Me, me, me ... I want, I want, I want" -- PRIDE! Plain and simple! Do you know that God calls rebellion, "witchcraft"?
"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry."
(1 Samuel 15:23a)
"Just how long am I to keep my hair?" -- This may be a question that some of you have. As I stated above, if you listen to some of the mis-interpretations out there, then you could keep your hair at collar length, or shorter. So I'll ask you... what do YOU consider as "long"? The Lord knows our hearts and our very thoughts and intents, so if you are sincerely seeking His truth and His will, then ask Him to show you and He will answer. However -- every woman out there already KNOWS what "long" means!

"And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt."
(Genesis 41:41)
The depictions you see below of ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics, are symbols that Joseph would have quickly recognized. My question to you is this: If you were in Egypt back then in Joseph's time, looking as you do today, would you be "recognized" as a woman?

"For when the Gentiles, which have not the law,
do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law,
are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts,
their conscience also bearing witness,
and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)"
