There is a phrase that I remember using a couple of times in my "old man" [woman], in regard to couples that I knew . . . "Ummm. I wonder who wears the 'pants' in that family?!" Are you familiar with this saying, or perhaps even said it yourself? I have even heard this spoken by "Christian" women in reference to other "Christian" couples that they know.

     I assume that we all know what that phrase means; i.e., we are wondering who takes on the role of the final decision maker and "home rule maker" -- the one in the marriage who takes the role of "Head of Household". So I have wondered since giving my life to the Lord -- "Just where did this phrase come from anyhow?" I cannot fully answer that question, however if we take a closer look, we might be surprised at some things which we can discover!

 

     First of all, if we are using this phrase of "who wears the pants" in reference to a Christian couple, then a BIG 'red flag' should immediately pop-up in our minds. Why? Because for one thing, I assume that we all know from the Word of God that as Christian women in Truth, we are to be subjective to our husbands. And in this, then there should NOT be one single Christian woman out there who should even be giving the appearance of usurping her husband's authority. No one should able to say this phrase in reference to us.

     Secondly, and the reason for this page, is WHY ARE you wearing pants in the first place?!! Do you know, that we have been given clear instructions NOT to wear any clothing that pertains to a man? Let me put it this way -- WHY is it totally acceptable in society for a woman to wear "pants" (trousers), but NOT for a man to wear a dress? Sound a bit "silly"? Then why don't you take a moment and think about just how "silly" you seem to Almighty God when you wear trousers, after He has given you clear instructions on your appearance! And while you are thinking, give careful thought to the following:

 

 

Did you notice the word I underlined in the Scripture above?

 

 

So, may I ask how you like your "pants" now?

 

     Okay, I can hear the comments now -- "But I DON'T wear men's pants! I only buy and wear women's clothes. This is getting stupid!" -- Really? Then you have absolutely NO spiritual discernment! Just "who" wants you to think that way? Okay, let me ask you this...do you think that if our Lord, Christ Jesus, Yeshua, came to visit you, that He would be pleased to see you greeting Him in a "pant suit"? Do think that women of His time would give even one second of a thought to wearing "pants"?

 

     Trousers have ALWAYS traditionally been men's apparel...NOT women's. For thousands of years, men's and women's apparel were separate. A truly "Virtuous Woman" of the past would never give consideration to wearing a man's clothes...and the thought of being seen in PUBLIC in a man's apparel?! They would have told you in no uncertain terms -- FORGET IT!

     Granted, perhaps there have been men's and women's clothing with some sort of similarities, but there has ALWAYS been "men's clothes" and "women's clothes". Which brings me back to an earlier question; WHY is it totally acceptable in society for a woman to wear "pants" (trousers), but NOT acceptable for a man to wear a dress for everyday apparel?

 

     If you cannot see any reasoning for staying out of a pair of trousers and chopping off your hair to "fit into a man's society", then why even be a woman in the first place? If you have to swallow all the lies and deceptions that Satan wants you to, why even claim womanhood and be different from a man as God has intended? Don't you think that Almighty God might even see what you are doing as a way of rebelling and telling Him that; "Hey, being a woman is not good enough for me. I deserve better in life...I should be making all the decisions! I should be 'wearing the pants' in this family!" Oh, and while you're at it, why not just light up a cigar? Place it in the corner of your mouth as you speak to your husband or any other man. It will complement your ensemble and then a man will REALLY have a hard time telling whether or not he sees another man -- or a woman...

 

 

     So my dear sisters in Christ...can you "see"? Whether or not you believe it, and whether or not you like it, we are all in a spiritual battle. Every Single Thing That You Do Which Is NOT in keeping to the Biblical principles which we have been clearly given, gives Satan legal authority to "mess you up" in some way, shape, or form. "Resist the devil and he will flee from you"...Yes! Absolutely! But has anyone ever EXPLAINED just what that is supposed to mean? Do you know what it means? And just HOW are we to "resist"?

 

STOP SWALLOWING Satan's lies and Get Out Of The World!

 

 

     Many Christians like to say; "What Would Jesus Do". So let's talk about that then -- If our precious Lord and Saviour came to the earth for our salvation in today's age, do you think that He would be pleased seeing all of the "American Shorthairs" walking around with their trousers on? Or do you think that He would be pleased to see all the women who walk around in tight "hip-hugger" jeans half falling off, short skirts or ones slit all the way to the upper thigh (or worse), bear mid-drifts that tend to show way more than just a stomach, breasts half hanging out of low cut tops/dresses, see-thru tops that "show-off" a woman's bra, half nakedness being flaunted on beaches by woman in their "society accepted beach-wear", and/or clothes that are just plain too tight or immodest in general that leave next to nothing to the imagination? (I wonder why some of you even bother spending money on clothing at all?!)

     Surely I cannot be the only woman today who has felt and acted on the conviction of the Holy Spirit in reference to clothing and overall appearance? Do you realize that a TRUE man of God would love you all the more for BEING a WOMAN, instead of falling into the traps of the world set by Satan?

 

     Read below, what I'm sure none of you have heard from any pastor today. While we do not need anyone's "opinion" in interpreting the Word of God, this information is extremely interesting and makes a strong point. Below is a precise excerpt from an older Gospel tract -- "LISTEN":

 

 

Are We Dragging Men to Hell By Our Modern Dress?

     The old sign of the harlot's dens was a red light by night, and women sitting in front by day showing their legs.

     If you wear immodest clothing that offers a suggestive appeal to sex and stimulates those baser impulses which slumber in the human breast, do you think the Lord is so likely to protect your girl and boy in the wave of immorality among youth and others?

     Hear what Dr. Luchtenstein, Physician of Tombs Prison in New York City, who is able to speak authoritatively on causes of crime, says: (He has seen in 12 years 170,000 prisoners pass over the 'Bridge of Sighs', and he ought to know). "The so called crimes of passion are increasing alarmingly, and will continue to do so in my opinion until the principle cause is eliminated. This, it seems to me, is the present style of dress which, to say the least, is immodest. Mini-skirts and similar styles have a direct bearing on crime incitation no matter how innocent the wearer may be." It is safe to say that there would be much less crime today, far fewer homes whose happiness has been blasted forever by unfaithfulness, fewer divorce trials, less violations of maidenly honor, if everyone of these underworld styles could be thrown into the deepest Hell.

     Dr. Talmadge said, "Thousands of men are in Hell, whose eternal damnation is due to the improper dress of women."

     A great evangelist said, "My Bible teaches me it is a sin for a woman to wear men's clothes, whether it be in factory or in the home or on the street. If she has to wear men's cloths in an industrial plant, she does not belong there."

(Deuteronomy 22:5.)

 

     In a neighboring town lives a boy who was graduated from the State University with the highest honors. Later he had a fine position but acquired a venereal disease, went insane, and now is in the insane asylum part of the time...all because of lust.

     Low necks, short dresses scarcely covering the buttocks, bare arms, painted faces--in a word--everything to arouse passion and lust is the order of the day.

     "Everybody does it!" I know--but do you belong to the 'everybodies' or are you a pilgrim?

     I went to Bible school, and one day the teacher had a special meeting of the girls and told them if they would let the Lord talk to them, they would lengthen their dresses. When the school had a social gathering, one boy left the party when the girls were playing games, etc. He could see too much, he said.

 

     D. L. Moody in his book Prevailing Prayer said, "Why is it that many of our children are going down to a dishonored grave? Many godly parents find that their children are going astray. Does it arise from some secret sin clinging around the heart? I sometimes tremble when I hear people quote promises, and say that God is bound to fulfill those promises to them, when all the time there is something in their own lives which they are not willing to give up. It is well to search our hearts and find out why it is our prayers are not answered."

     ...Preachers, if you think these knee length dresses are not modest, and it is a sin for women to wear them, will you be faithful to the Lord to warn them?

     Can you expect the Lord to put a hedge around your sons and daughters and keep them moral in this immoral world if you do not?

 

 

     Did the above sound "far-fetched" to you? Are you thinking that what was presented above is somehow "being used as justification" for one person's idea? If you do, then you are going to have to change the Word of God as well! And I will leave you with one final reading, of which I'm sure you will also never hear from any pastor out there today (or at best -- VERY FEW indeed). This one is from a different tract, and a different publisher from the one above...and is also extremely thought provoking. Nakedness, Rape and Murder?
Who Is to Blame?

     Our papers are filled with mystery murders. Women and girls being forced into automobiles and later found in a field or ditch, raped, beaten and murdered. Immediately the cry goes out, "get the sex killer." "Give him the chair." Let us stop a minute and consider. Who is to blame?

     Who is guilty of arousing the beast nature in this murderer? Why did he do it? The majority of womanhood has by their semi-nude appearance in public aroused this beast nature and invited this lust demon to demand its passions satisfied.

     Womanhood is inviting this thing upon themselves by their indecent and immoral dress. No woman or girl can parade about exposing their bodies to the opposite sex without inviting an insult. When a man is brought before a court in this day for insulting a woman, it would be well to investigate as to how decently the woman was dressed at the time of the crime. And if she was dressed in these so-called sun suits or some other immoral garb, let her be charged by the court for solicitation as a prostitute, or for indecent exposure, and sent to jail with the man for she is as guilty if not more so for dressing to invite such a crime.

     If a woman is not selling her body on the alter of lust, let her take it off the display counter. People who have something to sell usually show it and advertise it to the public. If women do not want the insults and attacks of lust-filled libertines, let them cover up. If mothers do not want their daughters attacked, let them see to it that they dress modestly.

     The sad thing is that this naked craze has crept into the church. Preacher's wives strip off until they look like a strip tease dancer at a burlesque show and parade the streets. Don't say it isn't so. We know whereof we speak. A preacher friend of mine said that recently a woman in his city appeared in public stripped to her waist. Yet some pussy-footed preacher says, "I don't believe in preaching on the non-essentials. I never preach on the dress question."

     Now men, if you don't like your wife parading stripped to the waist, don't set the example for her. Decency and modesty is almost a thing of the past. If a preacher opens his mouth about the naked and immoral beer-guzzling generation, they are branded as a hobby rider, and old fogy and out to drive people away from the church. We declare unto you if they do not have enough decency and respect for God than to come to church half naked, it is time for preachers to get down before God and ask for power to cast the immoral devil out of the people that come to his church. Yes...churches are becoming so conformed to this naked, devil-inspired craze that hell has enlarged itself to welcome [even church leaders and teachers] into the hell for the lust-crazed, compromising, holiness professors.

 

     Hear the word of the LORD. 1 Timothy 2:9, "IN LIKE MANNER ALSO, THAT WOMEN ADORN THEMSELVES IN MODEST APPAREL WITH SHAMEFACEDNESS AND SOBRIETY; . . . WHICH BECOMETH WOMEN PROFESSING GODLINESS WITH GOOD WORKS." (This applies to men also.)

 

     This generation has become a brazen, God-defying, Sabbath-desecrating, immoral, naked people. The man whom Jesus cast a legion of devils out of would not keep his clothes on, but when he met Jesus and the devils were cast out, the Scripture declares he was clothed in his right mind. Now according to the Scripture these who are parading semi-nude are either devil possessed or are certainly bordering on it, and further if they get their right mind, they will put clothes on. Read it for yourself. Luke 8:26-35.

     Who is to blame for all this deplorable condition? The Preachers of our land who are cowards have compromised. They have become afraid of their job. They are afraid that the naked crowd will not support them or vote them back as pastor. They would rather disobey God, than preach the Bible. If the Scripture we have mentioned is true, then God has denounced this nakedness of our age.

     The preacher is the watchman on the wall, God has commanded the preacher to cry aloud and spare not. He is to lift up his voice like a trumpet and show the people their sins (Isaiah 58:1.) But they are compromisers afraid of the face of clay. Yea, some have taken their clothes off with the rest of them and run to the sea shore and resorts. No wonder they cannot lift up a standard like the Bible has declared to be God's standard. No wonder they have become intoxicated with the no-harm devil. No wonder they oppose every one that will raise their voice against their demoralizing sin, and have the courage to uncover their wickedness.

     If you are of that group mentioned, let this be clear, you need to meet Jesus of Nazareth. You are chained with the shackles of Satan. He has you bound with fetters of lust and nakedness. You need to be set free by the power of Jesus Christ Who cast the devil out of the naked and devil-possessed man of Gadara.

     If you are traveling around in these immoral and semi-nude garbs, according to God's own Word you are not a Christian and you need not profess to be. If you profess to be, God has already branded you a hypocrite. Christians, whether man or woman, are modest dressers. They put on enough clothes to cover up. When Adam and Eve found they were naked, they patched leaves together and tried to cover their bodies even though they were the only two on the face of the earth.

     If people will shun nakedness there will be less divorces, less murders, and perhaps hell will not be so populated with libertines. May the Lord have mercy on you, for your terrible influence if you are the cause of the fall of one of the opposite sex when you meet them at judgment, and find that your dress and actions caused them to be damned forever.

     It is time for the clergy to cry out against this sin, if they have any decency left in them. It is time for the church to take a definite stand against this corrupt, indecent, immoral, naked generation. It is time that the womanhood that remains take their stand and rebuke their own sex openly for their disgusting dress and immoral appearance. Yea, it is now time that those who have been guilty of this sin turn from it. Get on your knees before Almighty God and repent and ask forgiveness before they find themselves walking the blistering pavement of damnation.

     There is only one cure for this age. There is only one way out. That is seek God with all your heart and turn from sin. A drunken, cursing father and a naked...cursing beer-drinking mother and a couple of neglected children who have never had a chance in life, educated by the movies and the funny books, that is the average home life today.

     God desires and demands a praying, Bible-reading father and mother and happy, well-cared for children with an education that will lead them to Christ early in life. Anything less is displeasing to God, and those who disobey God's commandments shall give an account to God. As for me my house we will serve the Lord.
